What we store
When you comment a keyword on one of our Instagram posts, our Instagram app (WASC DM) answers with a direct message. For that it stores:
- the ID of your comment, the post it is on and the text of the comment
- your Instagram-scoped user ID: the number Instagram gives our app for you, not your username
- the direct-message steps: which messages we sent you and which buttons you tapped
- whether you follow our account, when a message offers a link for followers
- when you opened a link from those messages, and the kind of device (iPhone, Android or computer)
We use these records to send you the message you asked for and to see which posts and links people use. They are kept in our Neon database in the EU (AWS, Frankfurt).
How long we keep it
There is no automatic deletion yet: we keep these records until you ask us to delete them. Copies in our private database backups expire with those backups, within 12 months. Backups are used only to recover from errors.
Ask us to delete it
Write to shot@worthashotclub.com and say that you want your Instagram data deleted. Give us your Instagram username and the post you commented on, so we can find your records. You do not need an account with us.
We delete your comments, your Instagram-scoped user ID, the direct-message steps, the follow checks and the link clicks we stored for you within 30 days of your request, and tell you when it is done. If you also gave us your email address, for a free kit or the newsletter, say so in the same message and we delete those records too.
Removing our app in Instagram
If Worth a Shot Club appears among the apps and websites in your Instagram settings, you can remove it there. That stops future access; it does not delete what we already stored. To have that deleted, write to us as above.
